Selected wines also benefit from constant promotional support by Vinitaly on a domestic and international scale. The initiatives put in place are:

  • Marketing opportunities: Commerce opportunities become a reality thanks to the promotional support offered by Vinitaly International through its national and international presence. This support includes collaborations, B2B events, grand tastings, showcases, promotion through social media and educational activities for both buyers and wine lovers.

THE ASSESSMENT

All wines participating in the 5StarWines and Wine Without Walls selections are evaluated by the jury during three blind tasting days. Each wine is first assigned a partial score, based on a careful visual and taste-olfactory analysis, then an overall one. The wines that, at this stage, score 85 points or more move to a second examination – the tasting by the Scientific Committee of the General Chairmen – thereafter they receive a final score.

At the end of the three days, wines that reach a rating of at least 90/100 will be published in the international guide 5StarWines – The Book, on paper and in digital format, accompanied by tasting notes written by experts.

At the end of the event, each participating producer receives – in private communication- the evaluation feedback from the 5StarWines jury with regard to each wine entry. This is important feedback for companies since the information comes from experienced professionals.

Among the wines selected for publication in the guide, the jury also awards official special recognition trophies.
